The Foundation
Community. Compassion. Charity. Three words that guided the life and career of Joseph E. Enright M.D., the Summit Medical Group physician who lost his battle with malignant melanoma in 1996 at the age of 37.
Those words also guide the work of the Joseph E. Enright Foundation, founded in 1999 by a group of friends and colleagues at the Summit Medical Group to honor their beloved and respected colleague Dr. Enright.
As a charitable organization, the Foundation has been dedicated to its mission of promoting better health in our community. Foundation programs have touched families and neighbors in over 20 New Jersey towns and cities.
The Enright Foundation has sponsored lecture series on topics such skin cancer, stroke, heart attack, hypertension, cholesterol control, breast cancer, allergy and asthma, osteoporosis, arthritis, gastroenterologic disease, smoking and lung disease, and sports injuries. The Foundation has donated medical supplies, offered scholarship programs for healthcare education, has held outreach programs with early detection screening programs and has supported medical research through contributions to national organizations.
Our focus at the Enright Foundation is "Health Through Education". Since 2004 we have offered twice yearly Health Education Scholarships to students pursuing a career in the field of medicine. In addition, the Community Lecture Series for the public and the Continuing Medical Education Series for professionals (both in cooperation with the Summit Medical Group) have continued to draw audiences from all the surrounding communities. Finally, through our website, the Foundation has begun to develop a Medical Reference Library to assist patients and families dealing with illness. Through these programs, the Enright Foundation is working to enhance healthcare education in our community.
Funds are raised through the generous support of individuals and corporations in our community. Individual donations, corporate grants, employer matching contributions, and special fundraising events like a golf outing and an art auction are our principle sources of financial support.
All contributions to the Joseph E. Enright Foundation are tax deductible as allowable by law.
